District Court
Duties of the District Court
The 81st District Court handles the following cases:
- Traffic violations, such as speeding tickets and seat belt violations
- Landlord-tenant matters
- Misdemeanor criminal cases (In general, if found guilty, the accused cannot be sentenced to more than one year in jail)
- Preliminary hearings for felony criminal cases
- Small Claims Court cases (Forms)
Fee Waiver Request - Civil cases with claims up to $25,000
Location
The 81st District Court in Iosco County is located within the Iosco County Building in Tawas City, near the rear entrance. The Iosco County Building is across from the Tawas City Park on US-23, approximately one mile southwest of M-55.

Christopher P. Martin
Judge Martin is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was elected into the Iosco Probate Court in 2012 and began serving the District Court in November 2016.
